Just when you thought that you had bought the “final” incarnation of the Nintendo DS portable console (the DSi), Nintendo comes out with yet ANOTHER version…now the DSi LL. Apparently, the DSi LL doesn’t play anything different from the DSi, but is larger than other previous DS consoles. I believe the biggest selling point is the fact that the screen is bigger than all other versions, which is more user friendly for those who have trouble seeing smaller objects.
Though a bigger screen is definitely a plus, the resolution is the same as the other handhelds which means that images and games will look more pixelated than before. Another minus is the fact that a bigger screen requires more real estate, which is why the DSi LL is fairly large compared to the previous models. As the size gets bigger, it becomes less portable…but it seems as though most gamers don’t necessarily carry their DSes with them, they just play at home.
I’m sure there will be plenty of people who will buy the DSi LL since there is always a market for bigger products as we get older, but the features don’t seem to be enough for many users to switch from their DS Lites or DSi’s to this.
