So today is the Pre-release tournament for the new Zendikar set and after seeing a partial spoiler list ahead of time, there seems to be a consensus that Zendikar will be a pretty powerful set (one which will be seen to replace the powerful Lorwynn block when it cycles out). I have been noticing that Zedikar boxes and cases are being snatched up pretty quickly online and retailers are having difficulty keeping them on the shelves.

As for added incentive, some participating retailers will be giving out foil Day of Judgment cards (the new replacement for Wrath of God) with purchase of a Zendikar booster box. As well, there seems to be confirmation that Wizards has stealthly placed old Magic cards (Unlimited, Revised) randomly in packs! There has been confirmation that people have opened original dual lands, a Mox Jet, Ancestral Recall, Candelabra of Tawnos and Stone Rain. The cards do not look to be in mint condition, which lead people to believe that these cards are not reprints, but rather the ORIGINAL printed cards!

The breaking news seems to have excited the Magic community and basically given people more reason to purchase more Zendikar at a ridiculous pace. However, there has been news that the “Priceless Treasures” cards will only be found in every 36 boxes! (You read it right…36 BOXES…not packs). The people who got the Mox Jet had opened 27 boxes to get it, while apparently another person opened a box and found 2 old cards…which means that they are definitely randomized.

Anyhow, this news is HUGE and I think will bring a bit more excitement back into opening Magic packs. I’ve already pre-ordered 2 boosters and participating in the pre-release tournament and my FLGS. Good Luck everyone!
