Toshiba recently introduced their new Interactive Billboard in the Akihabara district in Tokyo. What is unique about it is that passerbys can dial a number with their cellphone and then be able to interact with the billboard! Right now, they have a game whereby each player controls a paintbrush and covers squares to get points and to reveal the Toshiba mascot. The board is really a demonstration of how digital billboards can be manipulated via the Internet in real-time and the possible applications.
I’m hoping that more companies can utilize this technologies and offer up impromptu “multi-player” games while walking downtown. Billboard Bomberman anyone? =)
