It’s becoming more evident these days that the Playstation’s reign as “THE console for JRPGs” is slowly evaporating since Microsoft has been able to attract quite a few quality JPRG titles for their XBox 360 console (like Tales of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon to name a few). Sony also lost exclusivity rights to SquareEnix’s Final Fantasy XIII, which was a big blow to the PS3. However, Japanese developer, Level-5, has revealed a new game called White Knight Story (White Knight Chronicles in North America) which will be exclusive to the Sony PS3.

Judging by the above video, the game seems to be an epic fantasy tale which centers around our young hero who battles not only an invading army but huge monsters (like in Shadow of the Colossus). White Knight Chronicles looks to use a Realtime battle system so action seems to be constant. Here is a video of the gameplay:

Hopefully the finished product looks as good as the videos because I think that the PS3 is in desperate need of some quality JRPG titles in order to keep up with their other competitors. Though I own all 3 systems, it would be nice to play some new exclusives for each console (and justify their purchase).
