It seems as though Electronic Arts is making it a habit during their marketing campaigns to take potshots on other gaming franchises and developers. Remember in the Battlefield: Bad Company commercials? They definitely made fun of other games like Metal Gear Solid, Gears of War and Rainbow 6. Now, in this newest commercial for the upcoming game, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, appears to be talking smack to Blizzard’s Starcraft players since the actor addresses gamers to stop “worrying about battles in distant worlds”.
Though I may be reading too much into the commercial, but I wouldn’t put it past EA to do something like that. I know I would if I was in EA’s place since I’d be worried that Blizzard’s release of Starcraft II may re-define RTS for the next generation.
