I remember back when I was a kid, I would dream about wanting to create my own videogames and get paid doing it! However, what many young people don’t realize is that create games isn’t as EASY as it sounds. Depending upon what area you choose, whether it be design, graphics, programming or testing, it definitely takes quite a bit of education and dedication to make your dreams come true.

What is really unfortunate are that some schools prey on people’s dreams and present a false idea of the reality of the gaming industry. Check out the two videos below:

I couldn’t help but laugh at how absurd these two commercials portrayed game design. But sadly, many unsuspecting individuals will end up forking over $30K for a worthless diploma and no applicable skills. However, there are a few reputable gaming schools like Digipen or Full Sail. Though these two schools may be quite costly and difficult to get in, the amount of experience and knowledge you receive is definitely worthwhile. However, even after all is said and done, you need to have the drive and passion to pursue your dreams…no matter how much knowledge and experience you obtain, if you don’t enjoy it…you’ll end up regretting it.
