Well it looks like the end of May is upon us, which would mean that summer is upon us (though it doesn’t feel like it here in Toronto) and the annual Anime North Convention is about to begin. Though it doesn’t have the extravagance of American anime conventions, I believe that AN has grown by leaps and bounds to be considered THE biggest anime convention in Canada. The size of the convention has grown to encompass two venues at the Toronto Congress Center and Doubletree hotel. Though it is neat to see so many anime “otakus” at one place, it’s popularity seems to have driven the costs of the convention (now it’s $40 just to go ONE day! but I think it’s to encourage to pay $55 for a weekend pass).
Though the convention doesn’t have the same variety as the Fan Expo at the end of August, it is definitely a great place to learn more and watch some of the most popular series in Japan today. It’s too bad they never had this while I was a kid, or else I would be more inclined to participate in more activities and maybe even Cosplay (costume play). Anyhow, it’s time to head back to the convention and have some fun! =) If any of you are interested, you can check out the details through this link.
