Macross Valkyrie Fighter Toy

Lately, I’ve been really digging the new Macross Frontier anime series that’s been aired in Japan to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Macross. I remember watching the series when it was known as Robotech here in North America and I still have the original VF-1 toy that my uncle bought for from Hong Kong. Now it looks as though the company, Toynami, will distribute the Valkyrie fighter toys that Bandai had based on the classic Tokatoku’s toyline. Many North American fans might recognize the toy as the remolded and recoloured Jetfire/Skyfire toy from the Transfromers.

Toynami plans to release the VF-1S and VF-1J this coming summer and the Vf-1A with detachable superpacks this fall. Toynami will then release more toys under the Robotech brand name in 2009. I’m definitely excited about the reissued toys, though the quality of the build may not be as good as in the past (less diecast metal parts), it’s exciting to have the toys once again. I’m actually hoping that Bandai would start production on the new Valkyrie fighters from the Macross Frontier series….I’m guessing these will turn up eventually.
