So I was recently checking out some highlight videos from the recent New York Comic Con and I saw what looked to be the Avatar Panel at the convention. Amidst the news of the upcoming Book 3, Volume 3 release on May 8th, I heard news that the SERIES will be ending this coming July! Here is a a video clip preview of the final episodes:

Recently, episodes 314 and 315 of Avatar were leaked on the Internet. The episodes entitled, “The Boiling Rock Part 1 and Part 2″ were apparently ripped from the still unreleased volume 3 DVD. Apparently, Nickelodeon has decided to go ahead with the sale of volume 3 prior to the airing of the episodes on television. After reading other Avatar related news, I found this article regarding the 4th and final volume of the Avatar series. Here is a synopsis of the four-part finale *WARNING* The information below are considered SPOILERS, read at your own risk!

The kids return to the Fire Nation and prepare for their final confrontation with Firelord Ozai, but they discover that the Firelord has plans of this own; he has ordained himself Phoenix Lord and appointed Princess Azula as the next Firelord. In the spectacular 4-part finale of Avatar Book 3: Fire, Aang fulfills his destiny as Avatar and confronts the Firelord in the greatest battle of the series.

I was definitely in shock to find out that the series would be ending so soon! I honestly thought that the Avatar phenomenon would be enough to sustain it for more seasons (at least ONE more since there is no “Air” Book in the series). Though I’m disappointed to know that the series will end so soon (Volume 4 DVD to be released July 29th), I’m also excited and in anticipation of what might be the conclusion of arguably one of the greatest cartoon in recent memory.
