I guess I’ve been fortunate to have grown up when the NES was popular and enjoyed playing some of the classic games on the console. These days, people can easily find the emulators and roms on the Internet and play on their PC, but somehow, it doesn’t really feel the same. I remember days when I’d play for hours and have the blisters on my hands to show my accomplishments. The NES was definitely a defining console in the history of gaming. Recently, I found some creative modders who have actually transfomed an original NES cartridge and an original NES control pad into full blown NES consoles!

Famicard

The first pic shows a modded North American Super Mario Brothers cartridge into a fully functional 8-bit NES console. Called the “Famicard” (since it plays the smaller Famicom games), I was definitely amazed that people today have the ability to fit all the necessary components of the system into a cartridge.

NEScontroller

What is even more awesome is that another modder was even able to fit the system on a single NES Controller! Though I’m not sure if/how you can play multiplayer games on this thing, but the creator claims to have 70 built-in games and even the ability to play cartridges by plugging them on the bottom of the controller! Definitely a cool idea.

With all these creative people making these neat system mods, I’m hoping that sometime down the line, we’ll see current console systems shrunk to smaller proportions..you never know!
