I was just scanning online for the baseball scores when I stumbled upon an article here regarding a lopsided game of baseball between 2 highschool teams. Apparently, the coach of the Kawamodo High School team had to beg for their game to be abandoned since his team was getting annhilated by a score of 66-0 and they were still in the bottom of the second inning with only one out.

Apparently, their pitcher had already thrown over 250 pitches and surrendered 26 runs in the first inning and then 40 runs in the second. The Kawamodo High School coach was also concerned for the safety of his starting pitcher because he was on pace for over 500 pitches in ONLY four innings and didn’t want to risk any injury. Even though KHS was thoroughly spanked, the official scoring will only show a final score of 9-0 in favour of Shunshukan High School, their opponents.

My first thought after reading this article was, how could a coach leave their pitcher in for 66 runs and throw over 250 pitches? It’s either no one else can pitch or the coach really wanted to make an example out of the poor kid. Don’t they have mercy rules in place? After the ridiculous score was put up, I’m guessing that the kids may be too traumatized from playing baseball ever again.
