A couple of weeks ago, a hacked version of the upcoming iPhone firmware version 2.0 was revealed. Recently, the same iPhone Dev Team is planning to release their iPhone “pwnage tool” today…and Apple should be worried. Not only will it activate, unlock and jailbreak your iPhone, but the software will allow your iPhone to run unsigned custom firmware on your iPhone/iPod Touch. Here is an look at the software in action:

As you can see, it apparently allows the usage of the not-yet-released firmware 2.0 (which includes parental controls, Microsoft Exchange compatibility and the App Store icon). This is good news for those of us who live in a country that doesn’t have the iPhone officially available. The iPhone Dev Team also mentioned that the exploit should be future-proof and that upcoming firmwares should be easily circumvented by their pwnage software. At the present time, the software is only available on the Mac, but will release the exploit for Windows users soon. I’m wondering if after this recent news, will Apple speed up development for their rumored iPhone 2? I guess we shall see!
