Like many guys my age, they’ve grown-up watching classic cartoons like Transformers and G.I. Joe. With last year’s successful release of the Transformers live-action film, Paramount Studios is hoping that the G.I. Joe franchise will expect the same success. Here is the first look at one of the characters, Snake Eyes (played by Ray Park) who will be in the G.I. Joe live action flick next summer:

Snake Eyes is the silent, mysterious ninja-commando who is one of the heroes (and one of my favourites) from the old 80’s cartoon series. Played by actor/martial artist Ray Park (who played roles in the Star Wars and X-Men movies). From the first pics, Snake Eyes definitely looks the same as I remember him back when I was a kid. I was afraid that like the Transformers movie, they would change the look of the characters in order to make it more “realistic” and darker….perhaps these images are a good sign. Though not much has been revealed regarding the plotline, I’m pretty certain that that it’ll be G.I. Joe against their nemesis, Cobra. I sincerely hope they have Stormshadow in the movie so as to have some nice martial arts sequences. It’ll be a little while before the film is released (scheduled for August 2009), but you can definitely get caught up by watching the old cartoon episodes and animated movie.
