When Sony had first introduced their Playstation Portable (PSP) handheld device, the gaming world believed that Nintendo would finally see their portable gaming monopoly in jeopardy. With amazing graphics, superior technical specs, success looked to be guaranteed. However, after almost 3 years since it’s release, many might say that the PSPs track record has been disappointing. I actually purchased the PSP when it was first released and I was definitely impressed by the graphics and was addicted to Lumines for some time. However, most of the games released were either inferior ports or just generally uninteresting. It got to the point where I completely ignored my PSP and it was collecting dust on my shelf. To ensure that my PSP wasn’t going to waste, I gave it to my cousin and I was content with just playing my Nintendo DS (and still continue to play regularly today).
Recently, I’ve seen previews of some of the more recent titles for the PSP that I’m seriously reconsidering on buying another PSP. The titles I’m talking about are Patapon, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and Echochrome. Check out the following videos:
Patapon
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
Echochrome
From the videos, I’m pretty excited to give these games a try and I have definitely heard some favourable reviews from many online gaming sites (IGN, Gamespot, etc.). I guess while I am “struggling” with the decision, many other upcoming games look to have much promise like Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and Dissidia: Final Fantasy, the decision becomes that much easier.
