For those of you who are into playing the newest and hottest games yet to be released to the public, then many of you may know of the Tokyo Game Show, which is being held this weekend from September 20th - 23rd in Chiba, Japan. To the uninitiated, the Tokyo Game Show (or TGS for short) is possibly the largest video gaming show in the world (rivalled only by the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany and the former E3 Convention in the United States). Basically, the large video gaming corporations setup booths in the convention and they allow gamers to preview, demo and sample upcoming game titles.

Not only does it allows media and gamers to try the products first hand, but we also receive news on yet-to-be seen titles, interviews with developers and a whole lot of excitement and anticipation for our favourite franchises. The above video was done by Akihabara News, a site which is devoted to providing the latest news on the hottest high-tech stuffs from the mecca of tech toys, Akihabara District in Japan. On the first day, admittance to the convention is restricted to the media and press, in order to provide a sneak preview. Afterwards, the last two days are then open to the general public.

As you can see from the video, there are plenty of companies like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo showcasing their gaming products in their booths, having attractive female models patrolling the floor (since most gamers are male), stations to demo the games and other side events to promote the games. From the video, I could definitely see some of the highly anticipated titles such as Time Crisis 4, Lair, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Halo 3. I’m actually more excited about hearing brand new games coming out in the horizon because most of the games being previewed at TGS have received heavy coverage from the previous gaming shows during the year.

Since I’m actually thousands of miles away from TGS, I guess the next best thing is to watch the media coverage from videogame news outlets and wait patiently till the games actually arrive at my local gaming store. Sometimes it’s an agonizingly LONG wait…oh well.
